Julia in Delhi, day 3

Today was an easy day. We went to a Hindi temple. I got a red dot on my fore head symbolizing a good life. The Temple had a gift shop I went in. It had little and big figurines, pictures and a dolls. Then we went to a park. It was really big. It so big my dad got us lost. We found a place to get out but not the one we entered. We called our driver and he picked us up.

Next we went shopping. We went to a lot of shops. It was not really a market but it was like one. Next we went to the tombs. The tombs looked exactly the same as the Taj Mahal. The same family built it. BY:JULIA

Well, I just went through your new pictures (hey, it’s near the end of my work day!). Great images; what fun. What a lot of cacti! I suppose one doesn’t need to water them much, so once you get one (or several hundred) they just keep going. Emeline, you look in the pics as if you are already an experienced world-traveler, ready to take people as they are! J, you look up for it all. I printed off a couple pics to show off around here. Thank you for all the good work posting blog entries and pics; made my week and a half!

Hi All, Love the new pictures!!! What an experience you girls have had. Those school children certainly were lucky to meet such lovely American girls as yourself! I liked the uniforms, very different from SAS. I could hardly believe all those cacti, wow! I can barely keep one alive (over watering). I have had so much fun reading all of your blogs during your vacation. You girls have done an excellent job of expressing yourself, and your writting has made me feel as though I was there with you. I can’t wait to see you, and hear some of your stories. You’ll have to plan on staying after school one day for a little bit to share some of your stories. Have a safe trip home, We miss you. Hey everyone! I can’t thank you enough for sharing this amazing trip with us. I could not pull up the website with pictures at school, so I just spent about 20 minutes saving some to my pictures at home and then emailing them to myself at school. The students are so excited to see more. I have a picture of Julia and Emaline on my desktop which is then shown on the SmartBoard. The kids love it. They will be thrilled to see the new ones. I am so happy you added pictures of the Taj Mahal. I loved seeing the school girls. Were you able to talk to them? I imagine some of them speak English, don’t they?
I can’t believe it is already time to come home. I am so anxious to see you, but feel I could use another couple days of India. This was truly a great experience for me…..both the writing and the pictures.
Have a safe trip….can’t wait to hear about the pictures from you!!!

Thanks much for sharing your trip to India (especially since two of you don’t even know me) but it brings back a lot of my childhood trips to India and Bangladesh. A lot’s changed in 20 (okay, 30) years, but it’s nice to see trains, nice drivers, helpful locals, beautiful buildings and temples/mosques, easily “convinced” airport officials, and delicious food (especially the ice cream) haven’t. Safe travels and I hope the jet lag–and weather shock–isn’t too bad when you get home. Sheila
PS. Where is the pic of J in her pink and gold sari? I’m sure you will look beautiful in it!
